How to keep your dog busy when he is alone?

✅ 6 tips to keep your dog busy while you're away

We would all like to spend all our time with our dogs, but unfortunately the vast majority of us have to work. Being away from home for long hours can be boring for the dog and equally stressful for the owners who wonder what their canine companion is doing while we are away.

Besides hiring our fantastic dog walkers for a tour, walk and outdoor play, there are other options to keep your dog entertained when you're not around.

1️⃣ First, think about socializing your dog by organizing regular meetings with other dogs. Dogs are social animals, and spending time with their peers can bring them a lot of joy and stimulation . You can ask your veterinarian about dog play groups in your area or visit local dog parks.

2️⃣ Next, consider providing your dog with interactive toys . These toys are designed to stimulate your dog 's intelligence and curiosity . Fill them with dog food or treats , and your dog will spend hours trying to get them. This will provide him with an entertaining occupation while feeding him.

3️⃣ Grooming can also be a stimulating activity for your dog . Brushing his coat can help keep it clean and healthy, while strengthening your bond with him. You may also want to consider taking him to the groomer every now and then for a thorough grooming .

4️⃣ If your dog is energetic , consider teaching him tricks or teaching him basic commands. Dog training can be a great way to mentally stimulate your dog and strengthen your relationship with him. You can consult a professional dog trainer to help you with this process.

5️⃣ Don’t forget to provide your dog with a comfortable and safe environment. Make sure he has a bowl of fresh water , kibble appropriate for his breed and age, and a comfortable place to sleep.

6️⃣ If your dog is stressed in your absence, you can try to leave him a specific room where he feels safe and where he can rest.

By following these tips, you can ensure that your dog is entertained while you are away and will be happy and fulfilled.

You may also want to consider adopting a second dog so that they have a playmate when you are not around. However, always remember to consult a veterinarian for professional advice on your dog 's care and well-being .

✅ 6 dog toys to keep your dog busy while you're away

1️⃣Sniffing mat

Make a snuffle mat to give your pooch a chance to dig around and look for hidden treats. It's basically a rubber mat with strips of fleece attached to it, the ends of which act as hiding places for treats.

2️⃣ Puzzle toys

For very intelligent dogs, try a puzzle toy. It may take a little practice for your dog to figure out how to use it, but it's worth the effort! Not only will your dog be rewarded with a treat or two, but it'll also give his mind a workout.

3️⃣ Hide treats

If your dog likes to sniff and find things, try hiding treats around the house. You can hide anything from dog biscuits to Kongs and even hearty fruits like blueberries. Be sure to check the hiding places when you get home to see if any treats have been found.

4️⃣ Take-Away Toy

If your pup loves to play with a ball, a fetch toy may be just what you need. There are several different models that can provide hours of entertainment for your dog, both indoors and outdoors. You will probably have to train your dog how to use it, but once you do, it will be his new favorite gadget!

5️⃣ Change your dog's toys

Only bring out a few toys at a time and rotate them every day or so. This will keep your dog interested in his regular toys for longer. Plus, he'll be excited when the "new" toys come out.

6️⃣ Turn on the television or radio

Sometimes the sound of the radio or television can help entertain your dog. Sounds stimulate your dog's brain and help soothe or calm him. I like to leave classical music on for Watson and Sherlock while I'm away.

7️⃣ Start the day with a high level of activity

If you tire your dog out before you leave for the day, he will be less likely to get bored and restless while you are at work. Perhaps you could get up half an hour earlier and take your dog for a walk or a quick run. If that is not possible, even a ten-minute game in the garden will help reduce destructive behaviour while you are away.
